3 POWERFUL Steps to Awaken HEART & Brain Connection (and the SCIENCE of it) | Gregg Braden | 15.29 minutes
Gregg Braden outlines three simple, powerful steps to achieve heart-brain coherence, which can be practiced in as little as three minutes (7:56 - 9:35):
1. Shift your focus: Move your attention away from the world outside and focus your awareness specifically into the area of your heart (8:47 - 8:55).
2. Slow your breathing: Breathe at a slower pace, ensuring that your exhale is longer than your inhale (e.g., inhale for a count of 4, exhale for a count of 6). This triggers the parasympathetic nervous system and the body's relaxation response (8:56 - 9:31).
3. Generate a feeling: While maintaining your focus on the heart and slow breathing, intentionally call upon a positive emotion, such as gratitude. Unlike other forms of life, humans have the ability to initiate these feelings at will, rather than waiting for an external reason to feel them (9:32 - 10:16).
Consistently practicing these steps creates a state of coherence that can boost immune response, balance hormones like DHEA and cortisol, and help the body self-regulate on a molecular level (11:00 - 13:04).
The Strangest Secret By Earl Nightingale | 35 minutes
A 30 day practice inspired by this talk:
Goal setting: write down one goal you truly want, carry it with you, and read it often, especially first thing in the morning and right before bed. On the back, remind yourself that when you ask, seek, and knock, you receive, find, and have the door opened.
Mindset: whenever fear or a negative picture shows up, replace it with a positive image of your goal. Give more than you take. Focus on where you're going rather than how you'll get there. Hold onto purpose and faith for the full 30 days, act as though failure isn't possible, and don't start your 30 days until you're fully committed to finishing them. Your income tends to reflect the value you add to others through your service.
Next step: repeat the 30 days again and again until it becomes part of who you are, until you can't imagine living any other way.
